NSA Tournament Ratings
- NSA Ratings Committee Home Page
- Current tournament ratings (updated )
Ratings lists show a player's name, tournament rating, overall
ranking and membership status, and as of January 2009 the number
of rated games they have played in their career.
- Tournament Directors must be careful to use player names exactly
as they appear in the ratings list, to be sure that the right
player is credited for tournament results.
-
Tournament ratings are calculated at the end of each NSA-sanctioned
tournament and posted in cross-table form at this web site. A full list is compiled
each month and is available electronically here and in hardcopy form.
-
Overall rankings are shown only in the online list, and include only
those players who have played in at least 28 rounds of fully
rated tournaments in the last 24 calendar months.
(Until the end of May 2007, players were considered active if they
had played at least one round in the past 12 calendar months.)
-
The membership status of players in good standing is shown
as the issue number of the last newsletter which is due to be
sent to them. Lapsed members are marked 'EXP'. Some players
are marked '***'; this either means that they have never been
members, or that their ratings list name does not exactly match
their subscription name. For instance, John Chew might be
playing as John Chew but receiving a subscription as John J. Chew.
In this case, we would appreciate being informed of which form
of the name is the preferred one.
Please note however that the overall ratings list is updated monthly,
so changes submitted will not appear online until
the beginning of the following month.
-
The number of rated games a player has played affects their
rating changes, in that player ratings change by 50% more until a player
has played 50 games.
- See also the tournament results on which these ratings are based.
* The NSA is indebted to JC Green, who recovered
and supplied a copy of the December 1999 ratings list after it had
accidentally been deleted.
