Canada wins Round 13 5-2 and now trails U.S.A. by two games, 46.5-44.5 with one round to go. The U.S.A. will retain possession of the cup on an overall tie, so they need to win 2.5 games; Canada needs to win 5.

Saturday, 1:30 P.M.

At the lunch break (from China China Palace and Pizza Hut), Canada leads 12-9, after winning the last round 5-2.

Saturday, 12:20 P.M.

The U.S.A. beat Canada 4-3 in Round 2, and the series is tied at 7 games apiece.

Saturday, 11:30 A.M.

Canada beat the U.S. 4-3 in Round 1. I'm a little delayed posting the games from Round 1, because I'm trying to arrange lunch, which is scheduled for a half hour between Rounds 3 and 4. The original plan, suggested by the hotel, was to order in Chinese and pizza, but almost all of the restaurants the hotel had on file do not in fact open for weekend lunches, as we're in the middle of a large business district by the airport. I think I've found a Chinese place that will fax me their menu, and am running back and forth between the playing room and the front desk.

Saturday, 10:30 A.M.

In addition to the fourteen players and one director, we have five volunteer annotators present, each recording one side of a game and then asking for the other side's racks at the end for posting to the web site. Thank you very much to Alyssa Faria, Amanda Hubble, Cecilia Le, Chris Lipe and Jason Ubeika.

Saturday, 10:00 A.M.

All players are present, and begin playing after brief opening formalities. U.S. Team Captain Brian Cappelletto draws an A, beating Canadian Team Captain Adam Logan's B, so the U.S. will go first in odd-numbered rounds. The tournament will run in a double round-robin format, so each player will play all seven opposing players twice in succession.
